1 > About NOYIFF

NOYIFF aims to stimulate the innovative thinking and creative passion of young filmmakers through a competition mechanism spanning China and New Zealand. We encourage them to continuously explore and dare to break boundaries, showcasing cutting-edge artistic sensibilities and profound creative imaginations.

 

This film festival does not adhere to tradition but is dedicated to exploring new artistic frontiers, advocating for a multicultural stance, unique thinking paradigms, and borderless audiovisual expressions. We aspire for young filmmakers to utilise their cultural heritage and avant-garde creativity to present a feast of ideas to the world, elevating the art of cinema to new heights.

 

NOYIFF is committed to gathering the essence of young creative works, providing a fair and transparent judging platform, rediscovering the original intentions of cinematic art, and leading the trends of the times. We call upon all young creators passionate about cinema and daring in innovation to join our ranks, collectively opening a new chapter in the art of filmmaking and leaving behind a brilliant legacy for the future of creation!

 

2 > NOYIFF Ceremony Date

The NOYIFF awards ceremony is scheduled to take place annually during the New Zealand Asia Pacific Film Festival / New Order Youth Film Festival (proposed to be held in October/ November each year) in Auckland, New Zealand. The NOYIFF committee will announce the specific date at a later time, and the committee reserves the right to modify the time and location of the event.

 

3 > Registration Fees

The New Order Youth International Film Festival (NOYIFF) is committed to creating a platform for young filmmakers, encouraging and supporting their participation and their works to the fullest extent. Therefore, NOYIFF 2024 promises that all film submissions for this year's festival will be free of charge.

 

4 > Withdrawal Conditions

After 20th of July, 2024, registered films generally may not be withdrawn or exited from the competition for any reason.

Registration

1 > Eligibility for Registration

The organising committee of NOYIFF New Order Youth Film Festival invites all individuals and groups interested in film creation to participate in the program. People from all countries and regions around the world are eligible to apply.

 

2 > Submission Period

The submission period for NOYIFF 2024 is:

From 1 June 2024 - 7 September 2024

Participants must complete the online registration, submit their films, and send all required registration materials to the NOYIFF committee before the deadline. Films that are submitted after the deadline, have missing or incomplete registration materials, or fail to meet the requirements will not be included in the judging process.

 

3 > Submission Requirements

  • All registered works must be original creations.

  • Completion Date: After 30 May 2023.

  • Duration: 1-40 minutes, including the duration of the opening and closing credits.

  • Genres: Various genres such as drama, documentary, animation, experimental, etc., are accepted.

  • Subtitle Requirements: All dialogues, voiceovers, and narrations must include English or bilingual (Chinese and English) subtitles.

  • Quality Requirements: Video files should be in MOV or MP4 format, encoded with H.264.

  • Content must not contain any watermarks or logos.

  • Priority will be given to premiere films.

4 > Copyright Information

Participants must ensure that all materials used in the film, including music, sound, images, text, etc., are original or have obtained the necessary copyright permissions. Documentary materials should have obtained the subjects' consent for the use of their likeness and filming rights. If any legal disputes arise due to the aforementioned issues in the submitted film, the consequences will be borne solely by the registrant. The organising committee reserves the right to reject any film that infringes on copyright or portrait rights.

1 > Awards

The 1st NOYIFF Film Festival sets 7 awards, as detailed below:

2 > Special Award

In 2024, a special award is established under the theme of focusing on Asia-Pacific Culture;

3 > Specifics

Applicants for the NOYIFF Special Focus Award for Student Film must be current students (including those graduating in 2024).

 

The organising committee reserves the right to modify the names and quantity of honors.

 

Winning films will receive one NOYIFF Honor Trophy and one Certificate of Achievement.

 

The winner of the Best Director award at NOYIFF will be invited by the NOYIFF organising committee to attend the honor recognition ceremony in New Zealand and will also receive opportunities to participate in subsequent industry projects.

PART 4
Selected Films

1 > Screening Version

Upon selection, the film must submit the official screening version (in DCP format compliant with commercial cinema screening specifications) to the organising committee. Except for technical adjustments such as audio mixing, colour grading, and subtitle translation, the editing of the official screening version must be consistent with the version reviewed by the judges, and it is not permissible to replace the version during the judging process. In line with the original intention of promoting the works of new-generation filmmakers and considering the international consensus of public platforms, NOYIFF Film Festival currently does not have plans to pay screening fees to participating films.

 

2 > Information Usage

After selection, the registration materials and information provided in the online registration form and submitted materials will be presented in the film festival handbook, the official website, and in both online and offline media promotions. The organising committee reserves the right to edit and publicly use the film information presented through the official channels of the festival. If any information or materials are missing during the registration stage, they may be supplemented during the selection stage with the consent of the organising committee.

 

3 > Filmmaker Attendance

If a film is selected, the filmmakers are welcome to attend the film screenings, post-screening discussions, awards ceremony, and other related events during the film festival. Representatives of selected films will be invited to attend the NOYIFF red carpet ceremony and the festival gala.

 

4 > Premiere Status

After selection, the film may not be publicly screened in a manner that could alter its premiere status.

 

5 > Publicity Information

Selected films will receive exposure through the official channels of the NOYIFF Film Festival and its media partners. The organising committee will provide corresponding post-selection publicity support based on the actual situation of the selected films, assisting with festival submissions both domestically and internationally. After a film is selected or awarded, the organising committee will provide appropriate laurels. Films must prominently display the NOYIFF selection or award laurels on all subsequent promotional materials, and it is strictly prohibited to modify the laurels independently.

Submitting a film implies acceptance of the terms listed in this charter. Any matters not covered herein shall be subject to the final interpretation and explanation by the organising committee. The organising committee reserves the right to revise the detailed procedures and will announce them in due course.
